The Stories

This initial series is a collection of five individual stories about the animals of Bronki Farm.
There are another three sets of stories planned that have already been completed in draft form, offering a full collection of twenty classic styled books.
Don’t worry, I will keep you updated about all the planned releases.
Another important piece of information. Suitable age group. The stories are targeting the ‘young reader’, so I imagine it’s from 9 or 10 years and up. Although I could be wrong, after all I’m only a dog.

Using the Flesch-Kincaid reading ease scale. The story had a rating of nearly 80% which means it is suitable for 7th graders, so I think I am close enough for the enthusiastic younger readers and their parents.

Bruno

Bruno’s Night Away

Why do we neuter our pets?
This is a question Hektor wants an answer to. Since he’s a dog, it has a very direct, life-changing impact on his future. The reason he’s asking the question is because of his best friend Bruno has gone missing from the farm.
Mopa the oldest of the three dogs on the farm, calmly explains why Bruno is away. He is having an operation that will neuter him. At breakfast Hektor takes advantage of a golden opportunity, then immediately finds himself in trouble. In his failed attempt to blame Tola, Silka and Luna, the three farm cats, he makes his situation even worse, then accepts the punishment he is given.
Meanwhile following his overnight stay at the vet’s clinic Bruno, ignoring the good advice given to him by the cheerful Border collie, Bonus, suddenly finds himself in a different kind of trouble. On his return to the farm Bruno becomes the object of his friends amusement.
As always, by the early evening the day’s troubles are forgotten and some important lessons have been learned. For Bruno there is just one more surprise left before night falls over Bronki Farm.

Here is a brief extract from the first story ‘Bruno’s Night Away’ complete in both English and Polish and a sample of the illustration style used throughout.

Hektor’s Instincts

Hektor, the German shepherd, is more than comfortable with his instincts. But his friends aren’t, unfortunately. Hektor’s instincts often lead to embarrassing situations or misunderstandings. It often takes his best – and much wiser – friend Mopa to convince him to control his troublesome urges. This helps him bring a balance and harmony to his world – and to everyone else who lives at Bronki Farm.
Meanwhile Bruno, the enormous St Bernard, has got lost somewhere on the farm. Thanks to Mopa’s keen eye for detail and intuitive reasoning, she is able to work out precisely where the huge dog is, much to Hektor’s astonishment.
They find him, and rescue him – with hilarious results. Although after trying – and failing – to teach Hektor and Bruno how to play a word association game, Mopa secretly wishes that she had left Bruno where she had found him.
Hektor finally decides to listen to Mopa’s sound advice, which will benefit everyone on the farm. And the long-suffering village postman …
