Bruno, Moppa and Hektor are dogs that live on Bronki farm. One day it seemed to Hektor that Bruno had disappeared. In fact he had gone to the veterinary clinic to be neutered. Why did he have to go through this surgery and was everything going to be okay?
The ‘Stories from Bronki’ are a series of stories about the life of the animals who live at the farm. This first book focuses on Bruno's operation. His friends are concerned about him and discussing what being neutered is. The book is published in a bilingual format. The left page is in English text, and the right page is in Polish.
The author is English-speaking but acknowledges the importance of a Polish translation. At the beginning of the book it explains the format of a parallel text in both languages that was used, which is why the lines almost match each other on both pages. Taking advantages of using out of the box solutions like line breaks, making it a ‘comfortable’ experience for readers to practice their learning language.
In this story the subject of neutering our pets is at the forefront. In the animals own words, tell why it is carried out. In addition, we have the motivation of true friendship, as well as remorse, intuition and an understanding of the procedure. There is also a voice on animal responsibility. The whole thing looks enlightening but not overwhelming. And with the addition of the character’s humor, aids in unloading a sensitive situation.
lt is also worth paying attention to the illustrations. We can find here the works @foxinajacket. On certain pages the drawings are in black and white, the main artwork is in color. Capturing the scenes from the content, mainly animal conversations. You can see the precision and attention to detail, including the facial expression of dogs and the detail of their fur. I love how beautiful the illustrations are.
This is a book that gives you the opportunity to improve the language, but also presents an interesting story and brings attention to the welfare of animals. I like the release, idea and storyline. Just right for the young audience, but also the older ones will have the pleasure of reading.
